Pebble Beach? Here on Dauphin Island? Pardon us while we blush. That comment could be just a bit over the top but the plan to invest up to $10 million to redevelop Dauphin Island's Isle Dauphine Country Club into a "landmark destination is very appealing.
Jan Stephenson is president of Jan Stephenson Inc. a company specializing in several golf-related fields: golf course design, construction and management; real estate development; golf schools; and water conservation. Jan's company is behind the proposal to redevelop the Isle Dauphin Country Club.
Former LPGA star Jan Stephenson is trying to convince the Dauphin Island Property Owners' Association to allow her to give Isle Dauphine Country Club an $8-10 million makeover and add 130 golf villlas in what would be her latest project in the Alabama Gulf Coast region.
"This could be a landmark destination, like Pebble Beach or Kiawah Island," said Stephenson, who calls her proposed course The Links at Isle Dauphin and Dauphin Island Golf Links in her promotional material.
