Students to build park in Bayou La Batre

More good news this morning about people pitching in to help rebuild areas in and around Dauphin Island.

In a similar vein to a previous story about students using their talents to help the local community, seventeen Ball State University architecture students and their professor will come to Bayou La Batre over their winter break to redevelop a community park.

They usually take a week long field trip over their break to study architecture, but this year they have decided to take on an architecture project of their own. They have raised money, drawn up plans, received approval from the Alabama Planning Commission, purchased equipment, and are working with local construction firms to see the project through. The park, known as Bosarge Park, is located in Bayou La Batre next door to a school where it is sure to see plenty of use. The students have created a web site for news and further information about the project. Donations are welcomed.
