Dauphin Island Times

The Mobile area's Mardi Gras celebration, known as America's Family Mardi Gras, kicks off tomorrow on Dauphin Island.

The first official event this year is a parade hosted by Dauphin Island's own Krewe de la Dauphine. The parade is scheduled to begin at 1pm at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. It will proceed west down Bienville Blvd. to the Little Red School House. The theme of this year's Krewe de la Dauphine parade is "What I Want to Be When I Grow Up."

On the following Saturday, Feb 4th, the second event in the America's Family Mardi Gras takes place, also on Dauphin Island. The Island Mystics', Mardi Gras parade will run at 1pm along the same parade route as the Krewe de la Dauphine, from the Dauphin Island Sea Lab west on Bienville Blve to the Little Red Schoolhouse. The theme for the Island Mystics parade will be a "Tribute to Dauphin Island."
