Arkansas Fats' Memorial Cruise photo journal

Dauphin Island flagBruce Adkins, Dauphin Island resident, retired fireman, and all-round friend to everyone was the man behind the Arkansas Fats memorial cruise aboard the Duke last Thursday.

Bruce has posted a good number of photos from the cruise on his site, including the image you see here.

Flowers for Fats

A wreath of fresh flowers is set afloat in memory of Arkansas Fats.

A final farewell to Arkansas Fats. You'll be sorely missed on Dauphin Island, but it will be comforting to know you'll always be there with us in spirit.

Final Farewell to Fats

Arkansas Fats' ashes are spread on the waters of the Gulf of Mexico by his son Marcus.

A fitting and final farewell to Dauphin Island's beloved Arkansas Fats, who will be with us on the island from now on.

Fats' Memorial Ceremony

Marcus Weiland, Fats' son, prepares to read a few words he wrote for his father, Eric, while Dauphin Island's own Bruce Adkins looks on.

Fats and his family

The Weilands take Eric Weiland, known to us as Arkansas Fats on the cruise to his final earthly destination.

Pictured is Eric's son Marcus, holding his son, Isaac, and Marcus' wife Holly holding Fats' urn.
