Farewell Fats

Spread my ashes by the sea,
Just off the watery shore.
Let them float upon the waves,
And over the sandy floor.

Let children play upon me,
And laugh and smile all day.
While the sun shines down upon me
On this island place I stay.

So this is where I’ll be my friends,
Stop and see me any time.
We’ll have a chat and walk awhile
And discuss the changing times.

For here is where I’m happy,
And happy forever more.

Fats, Please say it ain't so

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the fine family of Eric Weiland. Our true and trusted friend we all know as Arkansas Fats has passed on.

Fats died of a heart attack while visiting his son and his family at 1:48am Friday morning.

We're all saddened by this news. Fats will live on in our hearts and minds, reminding us of all the goodness in this world and on Dauphin Island.

Marcus Weiland just called me from El Paso, Texas. His father, Eric Weiland, or as we know him, Arkansas Fats, passed away while visiting him and his new grandson. It was a massive heart attack. I will know more later, but I have a feeling that Fats will be coming to the Island soon.
