Dauphin Island Times

We'll be headed down to Dauphin Island for a visit later this summer. We'll spend a long week on the beach, just relaxing and enjoying the sun, sand and surf.

Every time we visit Dauphin Island we always try to take the time to do something really special. We'll take a day away from our lazing on the beach and get away from getting away from it all. We have not totally made up our minds what that will be this time around but I just discovered a leading candidate. Earlier today I was asked to review a site that helps get you just the right concert tickets you want. Hmm, we might have to take in a concert at a nearby arena.

The site I'm talking about is Ticket Solutions.com.

This is a terrific time saver for the traveler in search of entertainment while on vacation. Think about it. You're headed to Dauphin Island. You want to do something a little special on evening. You think to yourself "Hey, a concert!" Where do you go to find out who will be playing where when you're there? Even if you do know that say, John Prine, will be there in late August, how will you get tickets? Surely you're not going to buy them over the phone, are you? How will you know what all your options are for seating, and how much those seats cost?

I really like what Ticket Solutions.com does to help answer some of these questions. Let's start from the beginning and I'll show you how it works.

Suppose we're planning to be on Dauphin Island the last week in August and we want to know what's available nearby. Just put "Mobile" in the search form on the left of the display and click "Go". You get a list of who's playing Mobile in the upcoming months. If you click on the Advanced Search option you can get a listing of everyone playing in the state of Alabama or Mississippi. It's a good option to use because if you search on Mobile you won't see concert opportunities in Gulf Shores or Orange Beach, for instance.

My search for events in Mobile shows that John Prine is playing the Saenger Theatre in Mobile on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at 8:00 PM. Perfect. That's just the concert I wanted to see. The diagram on the left is the concert venue itself. It shows you where your seats will be. Click it and you'll get a close-up view of the venue in a separate window to assist you in your seat selection.

Simple as that. On one screen here's all the information I need to buy my concert tickets.

Based on what I've seen of the Ticket Solutions site, I have to give them my recommendation. Every page has a link to their Customer Service page.
