The Dauphin Island Times is a site for vacationers. One of the things we've always tried to do here is to keep our visitors as informed as possible about all that Dauphin Island has to offer. The web is a great place to research vacation ideas and that's why the Dauphin Island Times site is so popular among people looking for information about vacationing here.
But the unfortunate reality is that not all vacation destinations have really good visual information that allows you to try on your vacation experience as well as you might like to. Sure, every tourist attraction out there has a web site. So does practically every hotel. What's missing from a lot of those sites is the kind of basic information you need to plan your vacation. That's why I was excited when the people at www.seeyourhotel.com asked me to review their site. I checked it out before deciding to tell you about it and here's what I found. It's a site that ties together visual information, photos and maps, to give you a better perspective of the hotel you're thinking about staying in on your vacation.

A map centric interface to find hotels and make a reservation. Use the search or drop down or zoom in to see hotels, click on orange markers and see the details of the hotel... Expand the infowindow to see even more details. We will add features and will ask for new review when we will introduce them.
The site is a combination of Google Maps and some great photography from hotels around the world. You start out with a map of the world and zoom in to the location you're planning to visit. As you get closer, orange balloons come into focus. These are hotels you could stay at. Click on one and you get all the important information you need to decide whether this is the right hotel for you.
And because it's map based, you know right away whether you're near the golf course, the beach or that shopping mall you want to pay a visit to.
You owe it to yourself to stop by and have a look at this site. It's not only informative and indispensable if you're planning a trip, but it's just plain fun to play around with.
